Our Charter (under construction)

During the 50th anniversary year of Knox United Church (KUC), we are embarking on a visioning and strategic planning initiative to renew our sense of who we are as a church community and where we want to go.  We last did something like this some 5 years ago.  It is time for an update.  Out of this exercise, we hope to develop a plan for the next 5 years in terms of where we are going and what sort of missional initiatives we wish to embark on.

Going forward, we are looking to engaged and enthusiastic members of the congregation and the local community to seize upon a particular project of their ow choosing and to carry it forward.

Knox Visioning: Where Are We Now?  What Are Our Next Steps?

Recently, the Ad-Hoc Visioning Team presented an update on the progress to date concerning projects which the congregation supported after the 2013 visioning session.  Did you miss that Sunday or would you like to see the slideshow again?  It is now available for you right here anytime you would like to see it.    If you have decided which project appeals to you and are eager to sign up, please contact Ian Gibson, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Recent Visioning Events

Earlier this Winter and Spring, we had a number of public visioning events @ KUC that we held with the help of a facilitator from the United Church of Canada's Edge Ministry, Rev. Sharon Moon.  These events were:

  • 'the church as a person' held on Feb. 17th.  Here we sought to get a sense of who we were as a church community and what sort of 'person' we thought our church might be.  See the results of our discussion at the attached link.
  • 'hats off to the future' event on April 28th/13.  Here we sought to examine the future prospects and missions available to KUC in light of who we are as a church community and where we want to go.  Please see the results of these discussions at the attached link.

We have also attached the text of some emails that we received as feedback from our facilitator after these events.  We have also included some engaging questions that our facitltator had posed for us to ponder during this process.  See the attached links for details.

We welcome your input and involvement in this process. We look forward to making the next 50 years at KUC every bit as exciting and dynamic in pursuing God’s ministry as the first 50 years were.

Respectfully submitted,

The KUC Visioning and Strategic Planning Team
